People are taking time off work as a result of minor injuries resulting from handling, lifting or carrying, it has been revealed.Joint injuries, back pain and repetitive strain are all consequences of incorrect or problematic manual handling, Norwich Union reports.
Indeed, during 2007-08, two-fifths of the minor injuries noted resulted in employees needing to take three days or more off their work.
"Training plays an important role and should look at how injuries can occur, as well as covering the systems of work for the employee's tasks and environment," comments Phil Grace, liability risk manager for Norwich Union .
As such, people in dangerous jobs such as on building sites may be wish to take out a life insurance policy, which could financially protect a family should something unfortunate occur while an individual is in the workplace.
