23rd Dec '08 - Will You Keep Your Promise? People are turning to new year's resolutions in a bid to become more financially organised in 2009, a survey has found.

According to research by Gocompare.com, 60 per cent of adults claim they have made money promises to themselves, such as reducing their loan and credit card costs.

Indeed, while 15 per cent say they intend to place more cash into a deposit account, ten per cent claim they want to boost their pension coffers.

However, another resolution Britons may want to follow is by investing in a life insurance policy, which could financially protect a household should the worst happen during 2009.

Commenting on the group who want to make financial resolutions, chief executive of Gocompare Hayley Parsons says that "42 per cent want to save on outgoings. A really effective way of achieving this goal is to make sure that you are getting a good deal on your insurances and other financial products".

Decreasing term life insurance may be a more affordable life policy and could protect mortgage repayment on a family home.

Meanwhile, Alliance and Leicester recently revealed that 12 per cent of people claimed that they did have a nest egg - but then spent it.
